Sparky: Alexa Toolbar for Firefox
July 17th, 2007 was 10th anneversary of Alexa Toolbar. Alexa Toolbar
was released on July 17th, 1997. At that time Netscape was the most
popular browser. Things have much changed since then.
Currently Alexa Toolbar was available for Internet Explorer only.
Firefox users have to opt for alternate plugins like Search Status. Now
Alexa has launched its toolbar for Firefox and baptized it as Sparky.
Sparky has following features:
- Related Link
- Reach Meter
- Traffic Trend
- Traffic Rank
Alexa collects data from toolbar users to determine the Traffic Details and Ranks of websites on internet.
According to Alexa’s Privacy Policy Statement, they collect the following information from the toolbar users.
- Your IP address
- Full URL oif websites visited
- Browser and Operating System information
- Alexa cookie number
- Date and time related to above information.
Now with release of Sparky, we can expect an improvement in accuracy of traffic stats provided by Alexa.
